ED recovery coaching provides support and recovery assistance for clients with a diagnosed eating disorder, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Orthorexia; I am trained to assist clients in reaching their treatment goals in their real life situations, provide support as well as appropriate challenges and serve as a role model in the clients recovery. My training does not substitute for therapy, or care by their primary health practitioner. I provide support and recovery assistance.
Eating disorder coaches offer an important addition to traditional treatment. Coaches can deal with unique issues and circumstances that the other team members do not have the ability to perform due to time and availability constraints. Coaches accompany clients in everyday situations and provide exposure and response prevention. I provide on-call support and serve as a role model and guide in the clients recovery.
Eating disorders occur outside office hours and that’s where I can help. I offer face to face or zoom sessions where I help the client create and maintain any goals, also help them direct the energy they put into their eating disorder back into themselves, review any goals their treatment team have created with them, and help them create a healthy relationship with food and their bodies. A unique part of the support I offer is I ask my clients to text before, during, or after engaging in their behaviour and provide real time support.
Other sessions may include meal support and eating disorder group sessions.
Working with a team allows the client to see they have an abundance of support and they are not alone. A counsellor, doctor, dietician and coach can provide the client with specific in depth therapy as well as support in their everyday practical goals.
